7 ways to have a great summer

Summer is approaching, and if that doesn’t mean that suddenly there’s a mass panic in the media to show you how to get your summer body in less than a month, then I don’t even know the true meaning of summer. Every year, as soon as the jumpers go into hiding and you spend your nights tortured by mosquitos, I start to think "How can I do three months of this?" Here're some things to keep you busy this summer without dying from heat stroke.

1. Baths. There, I said it. No one ever thinks of having a nice, warm bath on a hot summer night, do they? No, because apparently whoever does this has been keeping it a secret their whole life and letting us miss out. You’d be surprised how much a warm (emphasis on WARM) bath will cool you down. Plus, there's nothing like contemplating moving to Antarctica like contemplating it in the tub.

2. Picnic dinners. If you’re like me, and love the idea of being able to pack all your food in a cute little basket and head down to the park with friends but don’t like the idea of going out in the middle of the day in summer, try this. Honestly, it’s a life saver.

3. Go to the movies. You know how every time you make plans to go to the movies you hear your mothers voice in the back of your head, forever haunting you, saying "Bring a cardigan, or you'll get a chill."? Well hey, your nightmare becomes a dream in summer with that freezing air-conditioning on a hot, summers day.

4. Dabble in the Arts of making fancy cold drinks. Ever made ice-tea? We all know hydration is key in summer, but it can be a bit bland if you stick to water. You could make Icey poles too. Why limit yourself to only drinks? Don’t hold yourself back. Treat yo self.

5. Hang out in bars with friends. Local pubs are good for this because they're always cold AND they have pool tables. Win win, am I right? They're mostly pretty cheap too, which means it won't leave you out of pocket when you have to invest in that litre of sunscreen.

6. Get a hobby you can do inside, trust me, outside activities can hold off for summer. Try painting, reading, or maybe even just play a game with yourself to try and find the coldest part of your house. Challenge yourself.

7. Take advantages of the evenings; you don't even need to leave your house. Have a nice old cheese and wine party in your garden with some of the ice-tea you made before. There's nothing better than chilling with your friends on a warm night just bitching about people over wine.
