Havana Brown back in the charts with a Kesha written single
Aussie DJ Havana Brown has recently released her new single ‘Like Lightning’, featuring ‘Dessert’ singer Dawin. It has been a year since Havana Brown released the track ‘Battle Cry’, which was an amazing pop track that sadly didn’t take off in Australian charts and on radio. But now she is back with this bop just in time for spring.
‘Like Lightning’ is a tropical track, with hints of EDM in the song. The track was co-written by none other than Kesha, which is HUGE for Havana Brown. The verses of the song are quite strong, with a solid beat to tap along to. The chorus is a repetitive build up to the instrumental drop of the song. Despite the repetitiveness of the lyrics in the chorus being “Light me up, light me up, light me up, like lightning”, it somewhat does the song justice with the gradual tempo build and different use of pitch in Brown’s vocals every time she sings the line of the chorus. The quick feature of Dawin’s vocals are an added extra to the song, also bringing star appeal to the song with his own bridge. Dawin and Brown’s vocals in the last chorus also blend well, creating a fun, dance track.
Brown hopes to follow the success of her previous hits ‘Warrior’ and ‘We Run the Night’ with this new track, and I hope it gains commercial success.
