Five Best Releases of the Week

Kids – OneRepublic

OneRepublic has backed up with another huge anthemic single from their upcoming album. The track has an eighties-inspired throwback sound, infused with pop and folk-like sounds. Ryan Tedder, vocalist of the group creates a mesmerising melody through the chorus with his vocals and harmonies, using his falsetto tones to create a unique and fun track. The addition of percussion helps create a strong rhythm and tempo for the track. Throughout the song, Tedder compares how good things are now to what they were like back then when they were more relaxed and untroubled.

Prolly – Sevyn Streeter feat. Gucci Mane

“Prolly” is the new single from the US R&B singer Sevyn Streeter, off her forthcoming album. Gucci Mane features on the track, spitting a respective verse. Sampling 'The Last Poets’ “When the Revolution Comes”, Streeter sings about partying, getting too tipsy and getting into trouble. Mane’s profile helps boost the song, but Streeter’s vocals are on fire in this track, getting the R&B world excited for her music to come.

Bang Bang – Green Day

The American Punk-Rock band are back! They've also announced a new album, which comes out on October 7. This is the first we've heard from the band since 2012. The lead single is inspired by the deadly mass shootings that have been occurring in America recently. The song is written from the perspective of a mass shooter, and features the band’s signature heavy electric guitar riffs, and the smashing rhythmic sounds from the drum kit.

Feel It – GTA, What So Not feat. Tunji Ige

GTA have released another relatively chilled single featuring Australian What So Not, and rapper Tunji Ige. The track features an up-tempo bass-esque beat, with heavy, unique synth sounds. The contrast of the rapping coupled with strong female vocals complimented the emotive melody feel of the song. GTA are continuing with their laid-back house vibes, experimenting with different sounds for their upcoming album.
