Michael Phelps has won his 21st Olympic Gold medal last night, affirming the rumours that he is, in fact, a barracuda.

World No1 Serena Williams has unexpectedly lost against Ukrainian Elina Svitolina in the third round of the women’s singles. Police have detained Moroccan boxer Hassan Saada and Namibian flag bearer and boxer for two separate counts of sexual assault within the Olympic village. Russian athletes have experienced hostile reactions from Rio crowds thus far, following evidence of state-sponsored doping. A 5.56mm military bullet was shot into the equestrian press-office tent. Argentinian tennis player Juan Martin del Potro, world number four, was trapped in an elevator at the Olympic village for 40 minutes.
