Major Lazer feat. Justin Bieber and MO – Cold Water Major Lazer continues with their recipe of success, collaborating with hit makers Justin Bieber and Mo for their latest single. Co-written with Benny Blanco and Ed Sheeran, ‘Cold Water’ is a laid-back, chilled pop acoustic/dance song. Bieber’s smooth vocals over the acoustic strums strikes similarity to ‘Love Yourself’ but in a good way, while Mo supplies her unique vocals for the bridge. Also, the emphatic and empowering dance-hall drop after the chorus gives the song its big, shining moment. This track is a grower and is indeed bound to be one of the top selling songs of 2016.

Sam Feldt & Lucas & Steve feat. Wulf - Summer on You ‘Summer on You’ is a mix of acoustic pop and dance, driven by its tropical vibes. The verses are stripped back, with a acoustic guitar strumming in the background while Wulf’s vocals strike a particularly folk inspired feel. The verses are contrasted by house beats, and dance drops in the chorus full of a thick density of instrumentation.

Enrique Iglesias feat. Tinashe and Javada – Duele El Corazon (English Version) The latest Enrique single has been given an English remake, with Tinashe and rapper Javada jumping on board for the collaboration. Iglesias is following on from the success of his hit ‘Bailando’ which was also given an English version from the Latin which charted worldwide. The remake has been given a livelier beat mixed with R&B and reggaeton, while still maintaining the Latin. The addition of Tinashe on the track was an excellent choice, bringing her sultry R&B vocals to mix it up. While Tinashe sings her verse in English, she is led by Iglesias’ in the bilingual chorus showing her versatility. This is definitely my favourite song of the week.

Bastille – Fake It The English indie-rock band have released their second track from their forthcoming album ‘Wild World’. ‘Fake It’ begins with a movie dialogue sample, and is a slow to mid-tempo song compared to their first single, ‘Good Grief’. The song features R&B and sultry synth influences. Following this, the sombre pop chorus elevated the lyrics which speak of the singer's relationship. Basically, Dan Smith, the vocalist in Bastille is desperately asking his ex to ‘Fake It’ (their relationship).

Cher Lloyd - Activated After a long break, Lloyd is back after two years. This time more ‘activated’ than ever. Lloyd’s single, showcases her feisty personality through the R&B infused track, which was not expected from many. After parting ways with her previous record label Syco managed by Simon Cowell, Lloyd has taken control of her music. While the single is a bit of a disappointment, (especially given her two year absence) the song still demonstrates a more mature product, compared to Lloyd’s previous work. With lyrics, “Let em talk about me/ No fucks, swinging from the balcony/ With two cups, one in each hand”, she displays her new confidence.
