Era Istrefi releases English version of worldwide hit “BonBon”
Albanian Kosovar singer and songwriter Era Istrefi has risen to stardom with her worldwide smash hit ‘BonBon’. Released earlier this year in her native language, the song charted around Europe and the Middle East. But, the song has now gained greater attention because the 21 year old singer has released an English version of the song. ‘BonBon’ recently charted in the top 50 of the ARIA charts this past week and is currently sitting at a decent position in the top 40, as the song continues to gain more radio play and climb the chart.
‘BonBon’ is an infectious tune from start to finish. Istrefi’s vocals in the song create vibes of Rihanna and Sia together with the Eastern European feel of the song giving the track an edge over other tracks being played now on radio. The lyrics in the chorus, “BonBon I know what you want want”, create a sensual and sexy vibe from the breakout star. Along with the Eastern European vibe, Istrefi also combines R&B, pop and reggae into her music. An interesting point to note is that Era Istrefi is yet another Albanian pop star who has gained mainstream success in the past few years joining the likes of Rita Ora and Bebe Rexha who have had recent success recently and over the years.
The smart move made by Istrefi’s team to record an English version has helped her gain more exposure in countries such as the U.S and Australia which will benefit her career, recently signing to American record label ‘Ultra Records’.
